I often wonder why people continue to struggle with emotional distress and other issues when it is no longer necessary. Often I say to them, ‘Would you like to feel better immediately?’ Of course the answer is always a resounding, ‘Yes.’
I then ask them have they ever heard of EFT. Generally the answer is ‘Yes.’
‘Why then, haven’t you used it clear this?’ and they look at me dumbfounded, either not having thought about it or not realized that they had the possibility of immediate emotional freedom at their fingertips all the time.
Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT is the process of tapping on the energy meridians that run through your body in order to affect an emotional release or shift. It could be likened to acupuncture without the needles.
It is one of the easiest, most powerful, most effective techniques you will ever learn. Once you learn to apply it correctly, you will be able to use it for any emotional or mental distress that you feel, or any block you have. And it’s free. You can use it anytime to feel better within minutes, let go of old patterns and finally move beyond band aid approaches like tips, strategies, hints and techniques that only allow us to manage situations, not eliminate them.
One of the reasons Tapping is so effective is that it appears to bypass the conscious part of your brain which minimizes resistance. The tapping releases the negative charge on past events, memories, behaviour patterns, negative judgements and beliefs and allows us to easily change old decisions.
When we have an issue, most of us have some idea what caused it, but still we are unable to change it. This is often due to multiple aspects of each issue. EFT accomplishes this change in about 85% of cases, easily and effectively.
Another theory that is emerging, which is seems to hold some validity, comes from Faster EFT and it suggests that it is the neural pathways in the brain that are responsible for maintaining our issues. Faster EFT is a derivative of both traditional EFT and NLP, but why tapping on the energy meridians for a neural pathway issue would work is a bit of a mystery to me. But, I don’t know how my computer works or how a simple looking device like an iPhone could accomplish so much, and I don’t need to.
When I first discovered EFT over twenty years ago, my first reaction was, “This could change the world.”
It has certainly changed mine.
I was so amazed by the simplicity of this technique, yet so impressed with its’ possibilities for personal development that I have been tapping ever since. It has certainly changed my world.
In my practice, I now use my version of Faster EFT for personal development. The possibilities are endless. Imagine being able to change the way you feel about yourself. Would you like to move out of a situation or circumstance that is well past its use by date in your life? What about updating your self image? How about letting go of an old, limiting pattern like perfectionism or putting others first? Would you like to raise your income threshold? Do it with EFT. You are only limited by your imagination.
Do you ever stew over things for hours, days, or dare I say it, weeks? I have met some people who stew over things for a lifetime. Wouldn’t it feel great to get over things easily and quickly or not take anything personally? Whenever anything happens to me that I don’t like, I tap on it and the situation tends to resolve itself. Often, I receive an insight about myself, the other person or the situation.
Hanging onto old stuff not only weighs you down emotionally, it is the major cause of illness. The Centre for Disease Control and Prevention in the US states that 85 percent of disease is caused by emotions, and that is coming from a fairly conservative group. So why store old emotions in your energy system? It doesn’t make sense to me. You wouldn’t keep your garbage hanging around your house, would you? Keeping unresolved issues in your energy system is just as unhealthy for you, mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually as letting your garbage pile up in your kitchen.
Just because you are no longer aware of an incident that occurred twenty or thirty years ago does not mean it has disappeared from your system or that it is not lurking around waiting to cause you trouble later on. Clients often tell me, “Oh I’ve dealt with that,’’ or “That doesn’t bother me any more,’’ and they tap on it and all this emotion comes out of the blue. They are always surprised. I never am because I know that if it hasn’t been cleared from your system through inner work then everything that has ever bothered you in the past is still there. It has only been buried.
I believe EFT is the worlds’ best kept secret. So many people who have seen sensational results don’t use it, but 80% of self help books that are bought are never read. Our old programming to resist change is so strong.
One of the easiest, least expensive ways of creating the life you want in the shortest possible time frame is through developing a daily habit of tapping. Make time. Everyone can spare 10 minutes a day. Eventually, it will become part of your life, like it is part of mine. I do not get up out bed in the morning without tapping. It’s just that important to me.
If we all started tapping on a daily basis, EFT would not be the world’s best kept secret for long.

I don’t even want to think about the countless number of hours I’ve wasted ‘stewing’ over situations & incidents that weren’t even worth a second thought. Thanks for this post–EFT is something I will definitely be practicing!

That’s fantastic Jenny. That is why I have started blogging. I want to show people that they no longer need to put up with situations they do not like. Thanks for commenting. Much appreciated.
Thanks Madonna. I agree, EFT is one of the best kept secrets. I learned of EFT about a year ago and it does work. The hardest part of EFT is remembering to do it. Not sure why that is but I am sure it is like any other habit, you must be consistent. Thanks for letting the secret out.
Thanks Suzanne, You’re right right about the habit idea. After 12 years and being a practitioner, I sometimes still forget to use it. That is because we are so programmed for pain and suffering and because of homeostasis, which protects us from radical and spontaneous change. But, the more we use it, the more we see its benefits and its amazing versatility. Keep tapping. Madonna
Thanks Renee for commenting. There isn’t anything that can’ t be helped, resolved or improved with EFT. It is only a matter of tapping on exactly what the situation is.
As for setting up positive habits, start with tapping on the fact that you aren’t doing what you’re supposed to be doing. This might bring you to the block. It could be a past memory or a belief. After you clear that, just tap on the positive affirmation that you want to start living out. Sometimes that will bring up some negatives to clear.
It might take a couple of times to set up positive habits, but you’d only have to spend a few minutes a day. Hope that helps.
Hi Madonna,
thanks so much for your post. I have come accross EFT and only use it sporadically, maybe because I am not 100% sure if I do it right or because the problems I have seem not to fit to EFT straight away.
I will give it another go.
Any suggestions how to use it to help set up positive habits? Or as a “maintenance” treatment?
